Doordarshan (Hindi: दरदर्शन, often abbreviated DD) is an autonomous Government of India founded public service broadcaster which is owned by the Ministry of Broadcasting of India and is one of two divisions of Prasar Bharati. It is one of the largest broadcasting organizations in India in terms of studio and transmitter infrastructure, established on September 15, 1959. It has also begun broadcasting on digital terrestrial broadcasters. DD offers television, radio, line and mobile services through metropolitan and regional India, as well as abroad, through India Network and Radio India. For the 2012 Summer Olympics, live broadcasts of the opening and closing ceremonies of the games were broadcast on their national channel.
