Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a Cisco Information Technology (IT) certification. CCNA certification is an associate level Cisco Career certification. The Cisco exams have changed several times. In 2013, Cisco announced an upgrade of its certification program that "aligns certification and training curricula with ever-evolving industry work roles." There are now several different types of Cisco Certified Network Associates, with "CCNA Routing and Switching" closest to the original CCNA approach; Other types of CCNA focus on security, cloud, collaboration, security operations, design, data center technologies, industrial plants, service providers and wireless.
The content of the exams is exclusive. Cisco and its learning partners offer a variety of different training methods, including books published by Cisco Press, and on-line and face-to-face courses available under the heading "Cisco Network Device Interconnection."
To achieve CCNA Routing and Switching certification, you must obtain an approved Cisco Exam # 200-125 score, or combined passing grades on the "Cisco Network Device Interconnection" exams ICND1 # 100-105 and ICND2 # 200- 105. Upon approval of the ICND1, a Cisco Certified Network Entry Technician (CCENT) certification is awarded. Approved scores are established by statistical analysis and are subject to change. Upon completion of the exam, candidates receive a score report along with a score broken down by exam section and the approved score for the given exam. Cisco does not publish exam pass scores because exam questions and approved scores are subject to change without notice.
The CCNA 200-120 is the composite exam associated with the Cisco Certified Network Routing and Switching Associated certification. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills to install, operate and troubleshoot a network of small and medium-sized branch offices. Topics include connecting to a WAN; network security implementation; network types; network media; routing and change of grounds; the TCP / IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operation and configuration of IOS devices; extend switched networks with VLANs; determination of IP routes; manage IP traffic with access lists; establishing point-to-point connections; and establish Frame Relay connections.
