Introduction to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)
In this technique several pulses are produced in each half – cycle but the width of the pulses
is not the same as in case of multiple – pulse width modulation, however the width of each pulse is
varied in accordance with the amplitude of the sine wave reference voltage. The width of the pulse
at the center of the half – cycle is maximum and decreases on either side. The figure 6(a) shows the

A practical method of modeling wind generator control systems for network simulation using Matlab-Simulink is presented. The interface developed between PSS/E and Matlab-Simulink allows the models generated to be used directly in PSS/E dynamic simulation. Fundamentally, modeling involves understanding the dynamics of equipments to be modeled and deriving the differential and algebraic equations which are coded using a high level computing language. Pulse Width Modulation is widely used in power electronics as a controller in power conversion and motion control.
