Magnetic servo levitation (MSL) is currently being investigated as an alternative to drive fast-tool servo systems that could overcome the range limitations inherent to piezoelectric driven devices while operating over a wide bandwidth. To control such systems, a feedback-linearized controller coupled with a Kalman filter has been previously described. Methods to synthesize controllers for nonlinear systems are developed by exploiting the fact that under mild differentiability conditions, systems of the form:

Abstract


A robust/adaptive stochastic observer is presented for stochastic nonlinear dynamics having excessive uncertainties. It was shown through a new theorem that the proposed nonlinear robust sliding mode observer has very accurate state estimate error characteristic.
