Introduction to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)
In this technique several pulses are produced in each half – cycle but the width of the pulses
is not the same as in case of multiple – pulse width modulation, however the width of each pulse is
varied in accordance with the amplitude of the sine wave reference voltage. The width of the pulse
at the center of the half – cycle is maximum and decreases on either side. The figure 6(a) shows the

A benchmark system for studying the sinusoidal pulse-width-modulated distribution-static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) is proposed. A simple multifunction controller is provided to offer dc bus voltage control, power factor correction, and ac voltage control. Analysis, design, and implementation of the space vector modulated three-phase to three-phase matrix converter with input power factor correction are presented. The majority of published research results on the matrix converter control is given an overview, and the one, which employs sheous output-voltage and input-current space vector modulation, is systematically reviewed.
