AIM
To conduct the slip test on three phase alternator and predetermination the regulation through vector diagrams
APPARATUS REQUIRED
PRECAUTION
1. The Motor field Rheostat should be kept in minimum resistance position.
2. The Alternator field should be kept open throughout the experiment.
3. The direction of rotation due to prime mover and due to the Alternator run as the motor should be same.
4. Initially all the switches are kept open

(a)For Motor- 125% of rated current
= 125% of 17A=21.25A=25A
(b)For Alternator- 125% of rated current
=125% of 4A= 5A
THEORY:
In a salient pole alternator, the reactance of magnetic circuit along is along its quad stator axis. The alternator is driven by auxiliary prime mover at a speed slightly less than the synchronous speed under these conditions. The armature current is when the armature current mmf is in line with the field poles. The reactance by the magnetic field current is minim ....etc

APPARATUS REQUIRED
PRECAUTION

2. The alternator field potential divider should be in the minimum voltage position.
3. Initially all switches are in open position.
PROCEDURE
1. Note down the name plate details of motor and alternator
2. Connections are given as per circuit diagram.
3. The DPST is closed on supply side.

The synchronization requires fulfillment of various conditions like
(1) Same phase sequence
(2) Equality of frequency and voltage between incoming machine and bus.
