The current scenario of energy crisis not only requires increasing power generation but also use it according to the legitimate requirement of conserving in public places such as educational institutes, where users are more and no one cares to change appliances when not required. The goal of this project is to design a cost-effective automated system that can be easily incorporated into the academic institution especially in classrooms to conserve energy. Lights and fans are turned on and off according to the number of students entering the classroom through the people counting subsystem. The implementation is made simpler by using sensor to detect individual and compact circuits built around 8051 microcontroller programs. Through this system, the author wants to instill discipline in the students, giving no choice but to occupy the first row first and so on and the attendees come back to come in the front and then only have the comfort of the light and the Fan and at the same time want to help academic institutes to save money on their electricity bills and help reduce the emission of greenhouse gases into the environment.
