Exemptions from SAT fees are not sent directly to students. School counselors identify eligible students at their school and distribute payment exemptions. Authorized agencies and community organizations (CBOs) may also distribute quota exemptions.
SAT Test Fee Exemptions - Eligible students are allowed a total of four fee waivers that may be used during their high school career. Students may use 2 for the regular SAT and 2 for the SAT tests. These can be used either in the senior year of high school. To obtain a fee waiver for any of the tests, you must first visit with your counselor. Your counselor will check you for free or reduced lunch and then give you a special card, depending on your method of registration (paper or online). If you register by mail, you will be given a card that you must complete accurately, completely and have all the required signatures. When completing your registration form, be sure to fill out the form to the end, totaling your fees as if you were sending a check or money order. Then, instead of inserting a check or money order into the envelope, simply insert your fee waiver card, enclose postage and mail. If you register online, you will be given a card with a 12-digit number that contains both numbers handwritten and typed on it.
