The operating model of wireless controlled permanent magnet DC motor (PMDC) drive. The proposed design helps to improve control of DC motors that are installed in industries from a central location through a wireless medium, thus replacing dedicated control units and human monitoring. It is based on the fully controlled MOSFET based rectifier circuit and communicates with a control unit (PC) via the ZIGBEE RF transceiver. It is implemented using a Xilinx Spartan 3E FPGA unit and to control a DC 12V PM motor and the results are shown. This methodology not only reduces harmonics in the voltage and current of the motor, but also reduces the losses that occur due to high switching frequencies in pulses based on conventional pulse width modulation (PWM). This proposed design can be extended to direct current drives powered by single-phase or three-phase AC converters and single-phase or three-phase AC converters. It is fully compatible with 50Hz and 60Hz power systems. The automotive industry uses a large number of permanent magnet DC switch motors, which can be used in any of the luxury cars to most low-cost cars. Here we propose a wireless PMDC motor drive in order to provide accessible and cost-effective control for both domestic and industrial applications. 

For industrial applications, permanent magnet DC motors are seeing market adoption in various applications, including machine tools, servo drives, elevators, light railways, missiles, radar, satellites, artificial heart engines, power tools, etc. The proposed DC drive is implemented using a controlled rectifier-based converter which produces less harmonics as compared to other variable speed drive methodologies, such as PWM-based variable speed drives. DC motors are commonly used when high speed and precise motion control is required. Most modern electric vehicles make use of DC motors to provide movement to vehicles.
