The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) to produce newsprint and paper with bagasse, a residue of sugar cane. The Government of Tamil Nadu listed the paper mill in April 1979 as one of the most environmentally friendly paper mills in the world under the provisions of the Companies Act of 1956. The factory is located in Kagithapuram 11.0488 ° N 77.9977 ° E in the Karur District of Tamil Nadu. The company's registered office is in Guindy, Chennai.
Marketing
The Indian Paper Industry ranks fifth among world producers. The Industry is fragmented with more than 600 units with capacity from 3 to 700 TPD based on virgin pulp, agro residues and recycled fiber. This has given rise to a very heterogeneous and competitive market. In an industry facing acute shortages of raw materials, high energy demands and changes in quality requirements, TNPL enjoys a 10% share in the Indian market of printing and writing paper.
Marketing in TNPL has always been a "gateway" function. The company has achieved "Zero Stock" for the last 17 years. This was made possible by the efficient management of the "Production-Customer-Despatch" chain. The company has developed an effective internal mechanism for order processing, production planning, storage and shipment of materials. As the largest exporter of printing and writing paper in the country, the company exports to more than 50 countries.
