In a hermetic field induction motor, the sliding rings allow easy retrieval of the slip power that can be controlled electronically to control the engine speed. The oldest and simplest technique for invoking this speed control of the slip recovery induction motor is to mechanically vary the rotor resistance.

Non-slip power recovery units are used in the following applications:
• Large capacity pumps and fan drives
• Variable speed wind energy systems
• On-board VSCF systems (variable speed / constant frequency)
• Hydro-pumps / variable speed generators
• Utility system steering wheel storage systems

The sliding power losses are greater during speed control due to the use of variable resistance (Rheostat) in previous methods. Previous work includes the two methods called Double Powered: Speed control of the machine by the rotor rheostat in which when the output sliding terminals were connected to each other with any coil when the engine was at full load. The speed of the rotors was controlled by these variable rheostats of the same ratting used at the end of the sliding output terminals of different phases and the second method is speed control by converting ac to dc and varying a rheostat: in Instead of mechanically varying the equivalent resistance The resistance in the rotor circuit can be varied statically using a rectifier and a diode bridge cutter. This electronic control of the rotor resistance is definitely advantageous as compared to the rheostatic control method, but the problem of poor drive efficiency remains the same. The contribution of this work is to overcome the losses that occur in the previous methods. The sliding power or synchronous power is converted to DC by a diode bridge rectifier and the DC voltage is converted into the switched-line AC converter and returned to the supply. As the sliding power can only flow in one direction, the modified static Kramer unit offers speed control below the synchronous speed only and improves the overall poor system efficiency of the system.
