SAT fee waivers are available for low-income 11- and 12-grade students in the United States or the United States. Citizens of the United States who live outside the United States may be exempt from exams. SAT Assignment Test Fee Exemption are available to students in grades nine through 12.
You are eligible for fee waivers if you say "yes" to any of these items:
• You are enrolled or eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
• Your annual household income is within the USDA Food and Nutrition Service Eligibility Guidelines.
• You are enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that helps students from low-income families (for example, federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
• Your family receives public assistance.
• You live in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home, or you are homeless.
• You are a ward of the state or an orphan.
What the quota exemption covers
• The registration fee for a maximum of two SATs, with or without the SAT Essay
• Enrollment fee for up to two administrations of SAT Testing (taking up to three SAT Individual Testing on a single test day)
• Four limited time score reports plus four to use at any time (see details below)
• Four exemptions from college application fees
• Question and Answer Service (QAS) or Student Answer Service (SAS) if requested at the time of registration (QAS and SAS are not available for subject SAT examinations)
• A reduction of the fee for verification of the multiple choice score or verification of the test score
• SAT test coverage if you are an SAT School Day examiner whose school or district covers only the SAT but supports testing
• Non-US regional fee coverage for US students eligible for exemption from fees being tested abroad
• Up to eight CSS / Financial Aid PROFILE® fee exemptions to use to apply for online non-financial financial aid from colleges, universities, vocational schools and scholarship programs, free of charge.
Note: If you did not enroll in the SAT with Essay, but would like to change later, you can add it for free until the enrollment deadline. After that, you can still add up to the late enrollment deadline, but you will have to pay a fee. The test can not be added after registration is complete. But if you decide to add the test on the day of the test, and if the materials are available at the test center, you can take the SAT with Essay at no additional charge.
