Students, working in an industrial R & D environment, have access to problems and data on an industrial scale. They also have the opportunity to interact with some of the best researchers in the world. Practices can range from six to eight weeks (short practices) or from 16 to 18 weeks (long practices), with an option to adapt the duration in certain cases.
What do we look for in our inmates?
TCS is looking for exceptional, highly motivated PhD, MS, MTech or BE students or BTech students with an aptitude for research in any area of computing. Master's and Ph.D. students from leading institutes in the fields of psychology, sociology, economics, mathematics, game design, and organizational behavior may also apply.

What is the role of an intern?

Conduct research in an industrial R & D environment and solve problems on an industrial scale under the supervision of high level researchers.
Areas of responsibility include:

Creation of R & D-related assets
• Define research problems and design solutions for them
• Develop prototype solutions using industrial scale data
• Publish research papers at high-level conferences and journals
Execution of the investigation
• Carry out a bibliographic survey and identify opportunities and challenges
• Execution of proof of concept
• Contribute to the development of tools and products
Learning and development
• Understand emerging trends and technologies in industrial research
• Define the challenges of applied research
• Articulate research problems and systematically design solutions
