The engineering of systems of energy forms a great and most of the studies of electrical engineering. It deals mainly with the production of electric power and its transmission from the sending end to the receiving end in accordance with the needs of the consumer, incurring minimal losses. Power at the consumer end is often subject to change due to load variation or due to induced disturbances within the length of the transmission line. For this reason, the term stability of the power system is of paramount importance in this field and is used to define the system's ability to bring its operation back to steady-state condition within the minimum possible time after having undergone some sort of Transitoriness or disturbance On the line. Since the twentieth century, until the last times all major power plants worldwide have been based mainly on the CA distribution system as the most efficient and economical option for the transmission of electricity.

Even the most effective way to produce large amounts of power has been with the evolution of the AC machine (ie, synchronous generator). In power plants, several synchronous generators with different voltage classifications are connected to the bus terminals having the same frequency and phase sequence as the generators, while the consumer ends are fed directly from those bus terminals. Therefore, for stable operation it is important that the bus is well synchronized with the generators for the duration of the transmission and for this reason the stability of the power system is also called synchronous stability and is defined as the system capacity for Return to the synchronism after having suffered some disturbance due to the on and off of the load or due to the transitoriness of the line.

To understand stability, another factor that must be taken into account is the stability limit of the system. The stability limit defines the maximum permissible power to flow through a particular point or part of the system during which it is subjected to line disturbances or defective power flow. Having understood these terminologies related to the stability of the energy system, let us now look at the different types of stability.
