This counter system is built using ATmega16 AVR and can be used to count objects passing in a belt of converyer or towns entering from leaving the site. It is bidirectional, that means that if a person enters the room, it will increase the count and if a person leaves the room then the meter will decrease. The count is displayed on the seven-segment three-digit display.
The object or visitor is detected using IR sensors. On one side we place a led IR that emits invisible IR rays. These rays strike the IR sensors placed on the opposite side. When the IR rays are falling freely in the sensors, the sensor output is LOW (which is close to 0v) and when any obstacle between the IR LEDs and the sensors, the rays can not reach the sensor, thus making the sensor output To go HIGH (about 5v).
