NETWORKING OF GPS., SENSORS AND SOFTWARE SYSTEMS WITH DBMS
(APPLICATION TO INDIAN RAILWAYS)
Introduction
What is G.P.S ?
The acronym for G.P.S is Global Positioning System.
G.P.S is a worldwide network radio navigation system.
G.P.S constitutes a constellation of minimum of 24 satellites.
Indian Railways:
World’s largest Railway network.
Large means of public transport.
Drawbacks:
Lack of sufficient Safety.
Still wide use of manual and traditional methods.
Creating loss both to the public as well as national property.
How G.P.S is applicable to Indian Railways ?
GPS will be used to get the details of the train such as the speed and exact position of the train.
Navigation in three dimensions.
GPS will provide the means of the communication
Principle and working of the system :
Childhood principle of checking whether a train is coming or not by hearing the vibrations from the track.
Here GPS will be used to locate the exact position of the train.
Keeping track of the vibrations produced.
Database maintenance.
Comparing the vibrations produced with that of database.
Microphone Sensors:
Located near the track.
Notes down the vibrations coming from the track by the motion of the train.
Converts sound signals into electrical pulses.
Compares with the database.
Fiber Optic Cables:
This transmission medium is used to transfer data and signals with high speed equal to the speed of light.
Secured and Reliable transmission.
Software and DBMS:
The main purpose of the software is to convert the vibrations detected by sensors into useful form.
Using DBMS ,we maintain the details of various analysis.
Antennas are used as recievers and transmitters.
