The important criteria to consider in choosing microcontrollers are:

(2) Satisfying the IT needs of the task at hand efficiently at low cost.

(4) Reliable sources / manufacturers
(5) The amount of RAM and ROM on the chip

[6] What is meant by Flipflop?
A flip-flop is a basic electronic circuit used to store information on a digital machine.
It is a flip-flop device. It means that it has two stable states.
It has one or more inputs and two outputs.
Several definitions used in microprocessor / microcontrollers:
Microprocessor:
A semiconductor device made using LSI or VLSI technology. It has all the functions of the Central Processing Unit (CPU), that is to say, ALU, registry matrices and control circuits of a computer.
Microcomputer: It is designed using the microprocessor as its CPU. It has four components: microprocessor, memory unit, input and output devices.
Hardware: The physical components of the computer are called hardware.
Software: Set of written instructions for the computer to perform a task is called a program. The collection of such programs is called software.
Firmware: Software that is stored permanently in ROM, PROM or EPROM is called firmware.
Bit: Binary digits 0 and 1 are called bits.
Byte: Group of 8 bits is called byte.
Nible: Group of 4 bits is called a nible. Also the collection of two nibles is called a byte.
Word:
A group of bits that the computer recognizes and processes at the same time is called the word. The length of the word can vary from four bits to 32 bits. Here the 4 bits are used for small microprocessors and 32 bits are used for large computers like IBM 370.
Instructions:
A command formed using binary digits that are recognized and executed by the computer to perform the task. The group of one or more words forms an instruction.
Program:
The sequence of instructions that are written for the computer to perform a particular task is called as a program.
Peripherals:
Input or output devices that are connected to a microprocessor are called peripherals. In some cases, memory is also considered as a peripheral.
Bus:
A group of lines connecting the microprocessor with other components of a computer system is called a bus. It is a communication path on which electric signals representing bits (0, 1) are transmitted. For a single bit to transmit, a line is used. The width of the bus is the number of lines that are used to constitute that bus.
Data Bus:
Group of lines that transmit data inside and outside the microprocessor is called a data bus.
Here data can flow in both directions between the microprocessor and the peripheral devices.
Therefore, the data bus is bidirectional. The width of the data bus depends on the architecture of the microprocessor.
For example, an 8-bit processor can operate with 8 data bits at a time and has an 8-bit wide data bus.
Address:
Line group used by the microprocessor to send the address of the device or the memory location to which the microprocessor needs access.
Address bits flow in one direction, that is, from the microprocessor to the peripheral devices.
Therefore, the address bus is unidirectional.
The width of the address bus determines the maximum number of memory locations that the microprocessor can access.
