KERALA STATE COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION OF CHILD RIGHTS
*The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) started functioning in June 2013
*KeSCPCR is a statutory body under the commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act 2005 and Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rules 2012.
*The main aim of KeSCPCR is
-To protect, promote and defend child rights in the state.(Protection of Rights of children under 18 is the responsibility of the Commission) The power of KeSCPCR The commission while inquiring into any matter, has all the powers of a civil court trying a suit under the code of civil procedure 1908.

RIGHT TO EDUCATION ACT
*Right to Education Act 2009 came into force on 1st April 2010.
*RTE Act is applicable to all states except the state of Jammu & Kashmir
Main Provisions of the Act
*All children between the ages of 6 to 14 years shall have the right to free and compulsory education at a neighbourhood school.
*No child or parents shall be liable to pay any kind of cost on uniforms, textbooks, mid day meals, transportation etc.
*The Govt, shall provide schooling free of cost until the child’s elementary education is completed.
*Two trained teachers shall be provided for every 60 students at the primary level.
*Schools shall constitute School Management Committees' (SMC) comprising local officials, parents, guardians and teachers.
*Programme launched by Central govt for universalization of education in line with the 86th Amendment - Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
*At least three-fourth of the members of such committees shall be parents or guardians
*Fifty percent of members of such committees shall be women.
*The SMC shall monitor utilization of Govt, grants and the school environment.
*As per the Act, elementary education means - first to eight class
*The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been designated as the agency to monitor provisions of the Act.
