National Knowledge Commission (NKC)
*National Knowledge Commission was established on 13th June 2005
*Sam Pitroda was the chairman of NKC. It functioned as a high power advisory committee to the Prime Minister of India.
*It functioned between 2005-2009.
*Sam Pitroda was also the chairman of the National Innovation Council

Central Vigilance Commission
*CVC was established in 1964 on the recommendation of the Santhanam Committee.
*The CVC Consists of a chairperson and not more than two members. They are appointed and removed by the President of India.
*They hold office for a term of four years or until they attain the age of 65 years, which ever is earlier.
*Present Central Vigilance Commissioner- K.V. Chowdary
*First non IAS to head the Central Vigilance Commission - KV. Chowdary
*N. Srinivasa Rau was the first vigilance commissioner of India.

Atrocities against SC/ST
*Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was passed by the parliament in 1989 and it came into force on the 30th January 1990
*An offence committed under the Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 shall be investigated by a police officer not below the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
*Investigation to an offence under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act 1989 shall be completed with in 30 days.
*Any person arrested on an accusation of having committed an offence under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act 1989 is not entitled to Anticipatory Bail.
*The District Magistrate is the competent authority to provide relief and rehabilitation to the victims of atrocities, under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
*The minimum punishment provided for various offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 is 6 months.
*Whoever not being a member of a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe gives or fabricates false evidence intending thereby to cause or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause any member of a scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe to be convicted of an offence which is capital by the law for the time being shall be punished with imprisonment for life or with fine.
