In the current telecommunications industry many networks are not providing services to rural areas due to few customers and high installation cost. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is a channel access method used by various radio communication technologies.
CDMA is an example of multiple access, which is where several transmitters can send information simultaneously through a single communication channel. This allows several users to share a frequency band (see bandwidth). To enable this without undue interference between users, CDMA employs extended spectrum technology and a special coding scheme (where each transmitter is assigned a code).

Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) has become the technology of choice for the current and future generation of wireless systems. We have implemented the IS-95 CDMA-based wireless transceiver system with Matlab Simulink v 7.0. The entire system is implemented using the Xilinx System Generator v6.3 block. Although the CDMA IS-95 system is already implemented in Simulink and provided as a demonstration, there is no way to turn it into real hardware. Using Xilinx System Generator we have made our implementation able to translate to any of the HDL codes. This can be mapped into appropriate FPGA easily. We used the hardware co-simulation feature of the Xilinx system generator to create a library of the basic components of the IS-95 system. This library can be used to implement to create the various channels that are part of the CDMA system.
