IFFCO has 40,000 member cooperatives. IFFCO has ranked # 37 in the top Indian companies in 2011 by the Fortune India 500 list.
History
On November 3, 1967, the Farmers' Allowance Cooperative of India (IFFCO) was registered as a Multi-Unit Co-operative Society. It received recognized recognition under the provisions of the Multistate Cooperative Societies Act 1984 & 2002 later.
Plants
Initially, IFFCO commissioned an ammonia - urea complex in Kalol and the NPK / DAP plant in Kandla, both in the state of Gujarat in 1975. Another ammonia - urea complex was established in Phulpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh in 1981. Ammonia - IFFCO recently acquired a unit of NPK / DAP and phosphoric acid fertilizer at Paradeep in Orissa in September 2005. The marketing of IFFCO products is channeled through cooperative societies and institutional agencies in more than 29 states and Trade unions Territories of India.
Production and Sales
During 2008-09, IFFCO produced 7,168,000 tons of fertilizer material; Recording a total capacity utilization of 98 percent for nitrogen and 53 percent for phosphate fertilizer. It contributes 21.4% of the country's total nitrogenous fertilizer production and 27% of total phosphatic fertilizer production in the same period. The productivity of the plant during the year stood at 1373 tonnes / person. The Company has also achieved another important milestone in the field of energy conservation by recording the total annual energy of 5,943 Gcal / tonne of urea. The Company has covered a record 11,258,000 tonnes of fertilizer during 2008-09.
