Among all the substances in the universe, water holds unique incomparable positions. Much more than being a major source of energy, it is the primary cause of all life on earth. Also non-traditional and industrial applications of water such as hydraulic transportation of coal and minerals in slurry form, dredging, sprinkler irrigation, cooling and refrigeration etc. are gradually increasing. So much so that availability of water plays primary role in location of an industry today over all other considerations.
Technological advancements in efficient and economic utilization of water as an energy source are a real slow process in India as well to many other technologies. Recent development of economic liberalization has provided a compulsion to go in for cost effective process and latest technologies.
