All four-wheeled vehicles are equipped with wiper blades. These windscreen wipers are used to clean water on the windshield during rainy seasons. When windshield wipers were first implemented in vehicles, windshield wipers used to swing at a single speed. This caused distraction to the driver's visibility. This led to the invention of different speed wiper motors. This increases the visibility of the driver. But the wiper drive must be controlled by the driver himself. To provide tension-free driving, automatic windshield wipers were invented. For the operation of automatic windshield wipers, rain intensity detection must be provided. There are different types of rain detection methods.
Principle: Works on the principle of conducting water from electricity.
Material required: present, 8051 microcontroller (used P89C52X2BN), LCD, connecting wire, hole bolt, plastic tube, battery.
Description:
This rain detector is working on a very simple process of conducting electric water. The wire that is connected to Vcc and the other four wires are made to be inside the tube whose image is given below. It has different levels ie slow, moderate, high, and very high via the BC547 transistor. Port P2 is connected to the LCD data pins and P1.0, P1.1, P1.2, are connected to the RS, RW and EN pins of the LCD, respectively.
When there is no rain, it will show No rain. As the rain starts the pipe slowly fills wire at different levels to get a certain positive voltage due to the nature of conducting the water. Because of this voltage is sent to their respective pins in the controller. When the first drop in that tube falls, LCD shows the slow message. When the rain speed increases the water will touch the cable and display different messages like slow, moderate, high, very high.
How to do:
Just check the circuit and connect the cable.
For PCB users:
Do the engraving process and whatever you need to do the circuit or buy ready made prototype PCB containing holes. This is your headache just make a PCB design and do it.
Advantages:
1. It will tell you the detail of the rain.
2. It takes much less energy to give a good result.
3. You can make your own.
4. Work with a basic principle.
5. Very easy to do
6. Easy to handle.
Disadvantages:
1. Could not store data for further use but if you do what you can do this out of it.
2. It must be turned on for 24 hours.
3. Alert will start when the rain is there, at some point that annoys humans.
4. You can not tell from far you have to be very close to him to find out if it is raining or what.
5. It has to be in a few heights so that something can not enter it.
