ABSTRACT
We propose a new method for strengthening the security of information through a combination of signal processing, cryptography and steganography. Cryptography provides the security by concealing the contents and steganography provides security by concealing existence of information being communicated. Signal processing adds additional security by compressing and transforming the information. The proposed method, viz. In this paper, we aim to present a general introduction to steganography or data-hiding as it is sometimes just known. We then turn to data-hiding in images. When examining these data-hiding techniques, we bear in mind Benderâ„¢s specifications, such as degradation of the cover data must be kept to a minimum, and the hidden data must be made as immune as possible to possible attack from manipulation of the cover data.

INTRODUCTION

Steganography comes from the Greek and literally means, Covered writing. It is one of various data hiding techniques, which aims at transmitting a message on a channel where some other kind of information is already being transmitted. This distinguishes steganography from covert channel techniques, which instead of trying to transmit data between two entities that were unconnected before.
