The MIL-STD-1553 standard is used in most of the present day satellites as well as payloads within the space shuttle. The Protocol Sequencer and Subsystem Interface is a major functional element of the 1553 remote terminal design. The Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language -VHDL is used to describe hardware of Protocol Sequencer and Subsystem Interface. The Tiger SHARC processor is the newest and most power member of

this family which incorporates many mechanisms like SIMD, VLIW and

short vector memory access in a single processor. This is the first

time that all these have been combined in a real time processor.
