Transmission media can be divided into two broad categories
• Guided Media
• Unguided Media
Guided Media
• Guided Media, Some thing physically , include twisted-pair cable, coaxial cable, and fiber-optic cable.
• Twisted-pair cable and coaxial cable use metallic (copper).
• Optical fiber is a glass or plastic cable that accepts and transports signals in the form of light.

The Megaco protocol is used between elements of a physically decomposed multimedia gateway and is the result of cooperative efforts of the IETF and the ITU-T Study Group 16. Guided media, which are those that provide a conduit from one device to another, include twisted-pair cable, coaxial cable, and fiber-optic cable.
UNGUIDED MEDIA: WIRELESS
Unguided media transport electromagnetic waves without using a physical conductor. This type of communication is often referred to as wireless communication.

 Are subject to a lot more errors than guided media channels.

MULTIPLEXING

Whenever the bandwidth of a medium linking two devices is greater than the bandwidth needs of the devices, the page link

can be shared. Multiplexing is the set of techniques that allows the simultaneous transmission of multiple signals

across a single data link. As data and telecommunications use increases, so does traffic.
