Abstract
An alternating current (AC) electric motor that has had its stator unrolled so that instead of producing a torque (rotation) it produces a linear force along its length is called a linear motor or linear induction motor. The most common mode of operation is as a Lorentz-type actuator, in which the applied force is linearly proportional to the current and the magnetic field.

In a sector motor when the sector is laid out flat and a flat
squirrel-cage winding is brought near to it ,we get a Linear
Induction Motor.In practice,instead of a flat squirrel-cage
winding ,an aluminium or copper or iron plate is used as a
‘Rotor’.The flat stator produces a flux that moves in a straight
line from its one end to the other at a linear synchronous speed
