The concept of labour welfare has a very wide coverage. First and foremost the entire industrial atmosphere should be conducive to increasing labour productivity which is an indispensable manifestation and ingredient of economic -development. Increased labour productivity however, should not mean that the same is fully appropriated by the employers. There ought to be a judicious sharing of the economic surplus which labour generates.
