Transformer Basics
An electrical device that transfers energy from one circuit to another purely by magnetic inductive coupling.

Review of transformer losses
No load Loss (Excitation Loss) includes the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss.
excitation loss: energy lost by reversing the magnetic field in the core by the alternating AC.
mechanical loss: bearing friction,brush friction and windage loss

Autonomous sensing and communication in a cubic millimeter

Berkeleyâ„¢s Smart Dust project, led by Professors Pister and Kahn, explores the limits on size and power consumption in autonomous sensor nodes. Size reduction is paramount, to make the nodes as inexpensive and easy-to-deploy as possible. Smart dust is tiny dust size device with extra-ordinary capabilities. Smart dust combines sensing, computing, wireless communication capabilities and autonomous power supply within volume of only few millimeters and that too at low cost.
