Abstract
This is a LAN Messenger designed to function in a heterogeneous network containing mainly machine running on windows-based and Linux-based machines on which the Java Virtual Machine( JVM) is running. The main reason for taking up such a project was the lack of a simple LAN Messenger which works in a heterogeneous network. The obvious choice of the programming language was JAVA in which the compiled byte codes can be interpreted on any machine running the JVM.
