The shafts may be designed on the basis of -

-Strength
-Stiffness

Cases of designing of shafts, on the basis of Strength
(a) Shafts subjected to Twisting Moment only.
(b) Shafts subjected to Bending Moment only.
© Shafts subjected to Combined Twisting and Bending Moment only.
