Ferrocement is a building material consisting of wire meshes and cement mortar. Ferrocemento applications in construction is huge due to low self weight, lack of skilled workers, no need to frame, etc.
It was developed by P.L.Nervi, an Italian architect in 1940. The quality of the ferrocement works are guaranteed because the components are manufactured with machinery and the execution time in the workplace is smaller. The cost of maintenance is low. This material has come to be of widespread use only in construction in the last two decades.
The commonly used metal is iron or some type of steel. It is used to build relatively fine hard, hard and hard surfaces and structures in many forms such as boat helmets, shell roofs and water tanks. Ferrocement originated in the 1840s in France and is the origin of reinforced concrete. It has a wide range of other uses including sculpture and prefabricated building components. The term "ferrocement" has been applied by extension to other composite materials, including some that do not contain cement or ferrous material.
