hi am vaibhavi nighvekar. i would like to get detail information on sunk slab and sunk slab ppt.it will hlep ful for understanding actual sunk slab design. i'm final year b.tech MIT college student.

Sunken slabs are used in the bathrooms, bathrooms and laundry room where we have our washing machines. The purpose of having a sunken slab is to hide all pipes below the floor. Since pipelines carrying water are concealed under the floor, care must be taken to avoid leakage problems.

Method of construction of a sunken slab

• Concrete of the R.C.C. (Floor and sunken slab) must be mixed with a waterproofing material to obtain a more dense and sealed concrete.

• The cement and waterproofing material must then be diluted with water and sprinkled on the sunken slab of the RCC. Above that a layer of plaster should be provided using a plasticizer mortar with cement mortar.

• Brick walls and plaster (before tiling) of the walls and floor should be made with cement mortar mixed with a plaster of mortar.

• The fixing of the tile for the floor and the wall tiles should be done with impermeable, non-shrinkable tile adhesives, so that the tile area is impermeable.

• Plumbing joints should be sealed with specially designed sealants to seal sanitary joints firmly so that water can not be filtered.
