Formally, the State Federation of Sugar Mill Cooperatives of Gujarat Limited was registered in 1960 in Ahmedabad as facilitator of the Sugar Cooperatives with the following objective:

• Coordinate the activities of the different factories Sugar Cooperatives.

• Provide technical support and guidance for expansion. Renovation and modernization of existing units and the use and sale of products

• Assist the units in the programming of funds of financial institutions and government agencies.

• Foster research work for a better quality of Sugar Lane Cultivation. Thus achieving optimal production.

• Provide technical and professional training to farmers to improve their field.

• Be an important interface between the Co-Operative Sugar factories and government agencies.
