Ferrocement is a building material consisting of wire meshes and cement mortar. Ferrocement to applications in construction is huge due to low own weight, lack of skilled workers, no need to frame, etc...
It was developed by P.L.Nervi, an Italian architect in 1940. Quality ferrocement works are guaranteed because the components are manufactured in the creation of the machinery and the execution time in the workplace is less. The cost of maintenance is low. This material has come to be of widespread use only in construction in the last two decades.
Properties of ferrocement:
• Very versatile form of reinforced concrete.
• It is a type of thin reinforced concrete construction, in which large amount of wire of small diameter meshes evenly along the cross-section.
• The mesh can be metal or suitable material.
• Instead of concrete Portland cement mortar is used.
• The strength depends on two factors: the quality of the sand / cement mortar mix and the amount of reinforcing materials used.
