Image authentication is the process of testing the identity and authenticity of the image. Digital images are increasingly being transmitted through unsafe channels such as the Internet. Military, medical and quality control images must be protected. To protect the authenticity of the images, several approaches have been proposed. Today, image authentication techniques have recently received great attention because of their importance to multimedia applications. Traditional cryptographic hash functions, such as MD5 and SHA-1, are used for authentication. However, these hash functions are not suitable for image authentication. Because they are so sensitive that even a bit change of the input data will lead to a significant change of the output hashing. In addition, the image authentication system requires that the main content be sensitive. In order to compensate for the disadvantage of traditional cryptographic hashing functions in image authentication, the robust image hashing was first introduced which provides good ROC performance, low collision probability.
