The Railway Employee Information System (REIS) is being planned to cover all aspects of a Railway Employee's information needs. It is proposed to deliver information to all current, past and future employees of the railways on request 24 X 7 through all means of delivery such as through the Internet, Railnet, Dedicated Kiosks, etc. It is also proposed to use biometrics and other technologies to ensure that information intended for an employee and that is personal to him is seen by him only in addition to the password and other security features currently available. The beginning has been done by putting the information more confidential, that is to say, ACR to see it by the officials / railway personnel of all the country through a password and an identifier of access through this web site www.reis.railnet.gov .in.
To implement the Right to Information Act in true spirit this site will provide a stop solution for Railroad employees to access the information currently on various servers and computers through the organization without making any special effort to obtain The same of several offices.
This is expected to save a lot of time, energy and money for the railroad employee as well as management in acquiring and dissipating information on a mass scale as a web based solution is easier to implement and more convenient to use. It is also proposed to establish two-way communication between employees and other federations and associations through this web-based information system. Railways is perhaps the first organization in the country to show the 2008 -2009 ACRs through this innovative solution. The first cut of the REIS website has been launched in August 2009 (within 30 days of the conceptualization of the mechanism for displaying the ACRs to SAG officials and above) due to the dedicated and sincere efforts of the staff And Secretary Branch Officers, RBCC, Confidential Railroad Board Cell.
