Apollo Tyres Ltd is the 17th largest tyre manufacturer in the world, with annual revenues consolidated Rs 121.5 billion (2.5 billion $ US) in 2011. It was founded in 1976. Its first plant was put into service in Perambra, Thrissur, Kerala. The company has now four production units, one in South Africa, two in the Zimbabwe and 1 in the Netherlands. [4] it has a network of over 4000 dealers in India, including more than 2,500 are exclusive sales points.
He won 62.6% of its turnover from India, 27.9% in Europe and 9.5% of Africa. [5]
It intends to become the 10th largest tire manufacturer in the world with a turnover of 6 billion $ in 2016. [2]
June 12, 2013, it has been reported that Apollo Tyres Ltd. would buy American Cooper Tire & Rubber Company for approximately 2.5 billion $ in a case which would make seventh largest tyre manufacturer in the world, but the recovery fell apart after legal battles. [6]
Apollo has announced its entry into the segment of tires two-wheelers in the manufacture of the contract in March 2016. The plant is likely to go on stream by 2018
