TOUCH SCREEN INTERFACE USING TACTILE FEEDBACK
[attachment=17270]
BASICS OF THE TECHNOLOGY
A touch screen is an input device that allows users to operate a PC by simply touching the display screen.
The display screen has a sensitive glass overlay placed on it which has ability to display & receive information on the same screen.
Widely used in many application systems such as ATMs (automated teller machines), museum displays, ticket-vending machines, and control monitors in vehicles and PCs, PDA, etc.
Touch panel interface eliminates keyboards and mouse devices for interaction.
WORKING OF HAPTIC TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAYS
A transparent sheet is overlaid on a touch panel display & is connected to six actuators for generating tactile effects by vibrating the sheet up & down.
User touches are detected by pannel & sends information to control board.
Control board drives the actuators for generating the target effect generating different vibration effects ie., tactile stimuli such as Pulse, smooth & crisp.
APPLICATIONS….
ATMs (automated teller machines)
Museum displays
Ticket -vending machines,
Control monitors in vehicles.
Mobile phones, etc..
CONCLUSION. .
Large potential for applications in critical fields as well as for leisurely pleasures.
This technology has a potential ability for effectively assisting such weak persons. . .
