The remote control of an induction motor has been implemented using a standard DTMF mobile phone. A digitally controlled drive system has been designed to drive the engine. Next, a tone decoder circuit and a microcontroller between the output of a mobile telephone and the motor drive system have been added. This system is flexible to be controlled with GSM and DTMF based phones. With the drive and control system developed, global engine control has been achieved. The system has been successfully tested for different speed, position and steering conditions. Experimental results verify that the DTMF controlled drive system is highly effective, reliable, appropriate and applicable to achieve remote control of the motor. This study gains new and important insight for DTMF-based remote control applications in addition to engine control.
The version of DTMF used for the dialing of telephone tones is known by the trademark term Touch-Tone. Other multi-frequency systems are used for internal signaling to the telephone network. A machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy is called Motor. Power devices are used in AC motor speed control circuits to obtain high reliability operations at large currents. Several methods are available to control the speed of the AC motor; Here we control the motor speed by applying the DTMF decoder technique. In this system our mobile signals go to the DTMF decoder. And this DTMF decoder is interfacing with the built-in controller. The control device controls the speed of the motor. Here are moving keys, which serve the purpose of increasing or decreasing the motor speed. This engine speed varies in steps according to the selection of the key over the particular range.
