National Rural Development , Programme (NRDP)
*NRDP is a non- governmental non-profitable programme.
*The empowerment of poor by providing additional employment to the employed and under employed persons is the main aim of this programme.
*The main works under NRDP include construction of drinking water wells, community irrigation wells, village tanks, rural roads, balawadi buildings, Panchayat ghar etc.
National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP)

*Date / Year - 2nd February 2006
*The National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme was launched by Dr.Manmohan Singh at Bandlapally Village in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh on 2nd February 2006.
*National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme is the first wage employment programme.
*Its main aim is enhancing the security of households in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment.
*The ongoing programme Of Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (2001) (SGRY) and National Food for Work Programme (NFFWP 2004) are submerged with NREGP.
*The organisation which was instrumental in the passage of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA)

*The name of the NREGP has been changed into ‘Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme on 2nd October 2009.
*The present wage under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme in Kerala is Rs. 258 per day.
*The programme focuses on water conservation, drought proofing, land development, flood control, rural
connectivity in terms of all weather-roads.
