There is no clear distinction between artisanal and small-scale industries. However, it is generally believed that the craft industry is one that is carried out wholly or mainly with the help of family members. Against this, the small industry employs hired labor.

In addition, industries are generally associated with agriculture and provide subsidiary employment in rural areas. In contrast, small-scale units are mainly located in urban areas as separate establishments.

Objectives and objectives

·        Arrange the establishment of Museums, Exhibitions, Industrial and Commercial Fairs and take all related actions.
·        To contact the appropriate organization, obtain estimates, designs, etc., to initiate, develop and expand Small Industries and supply it to members interested in particular Industibles in the payment of charges that the Executive Committee may decide from time to time.
·        Assist in increasing production in the small scale industries section in Orissa particularly in the district.
·        To arrange and acquire the raw materials that are necessary for distribution to the members and the group of members in the terms and conditions that the Committee decides in a timely manner.
·        Protect the interest of Small Industries against any monopolistic combination of suppliers of raw materials detrimental to the interest of the Small-Scale Industry in the State.
·        To resort to the services of experts and to have advice of experts in the matter of Small Scale Industry in the State.
·        Establish or assist scientific, technical and research institutes for the promotion of small-scale industries.
·        Engage lawyers, counselors, lawyers, engineers, accountants of other experts on any matter of interest to the Association, part-time or otherwise, on remuneration or otherwise.
·        To assist small industrialists in securing facilities for transport by sea, rail, road or air for movement or raw materials and finished products wherever necessary.
·        Help secure markets for the disposal of finished products.
·        Assist poor products and secure orders for Small Scale Industries and set prices and divide businesses between and for the benefit of Small Industries in the State.
·        Collect and disseminate statistics and other information related to trade, commerce and industries.
·        Encourage, assist and expand knowledge and information related to India's trade, commerce and industries through conferences, discussion, correspondence, holding of conferences, library formation, publication of newspapers, newspapers or magazines, books and maps Or by foundation and endowment of the chair, student or scholarship or by encouraging research work or otherwise, otherwise.
