Recruitment is the process of identifying that the organization needs to employ someone to the extent that the application forms for the position have reached the organization. The selection then consists of the processes involved in choosing the candidates a suitable candidate to fill a position. Training consists of a variety of processes involved to ensure that job holders have the appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes to help the organization achieve its objectives. Recruiting individuals to fill particular positions within a business can be done internally by hiring within the company, or externally by hiring outsiders.
The advantages of internal recruitment are as follows:
1. Considerable savings can be made. People with an inner knowledge of how a company works will need shorter training periods and 'fit' time.
2. It is unlikely that the organization will be disturbed by someone who is accustomed to working with others in the organization.
3. Internal promotion acts as an incentive for all staff to work harder within the organization.
4. From the point of view of the company, the strengths and weaknesses of an initiate will have been evaluated. There is always a risk associated with employing an outsider who can be a "paper" success.
The disadvantages of recruiting from within are the following:
