SEISMIC SENSOR
[attachment=17244]
INTRODUCTION :-
The word seismic is derived from the Greek word, seismós, meaning shaking or quake.
A seismic sensor is a device that uses the piezoelectric effect to measure pressure, acceleration, strain or force by converting them to an electrical signal. This circuit simulates a seismic sensor to detect vibrations/sounds. It is very sensitive and can detect vibrations caused by the movement of animals or human beings. So it can be used to monitor protected areas to restrict entry of unwanted persons or animals.
APPLICATIONS :-
A seismic sensor senses pressure changes. It has a wide range of applications. Some are-
1. It can be used for security purposes at homes.
2. Farms can be protected from animals by employing this circuit around it.
Further applications:
With a little modification, the same circuit can be employed to various other usage.
Some are-
It can be used for the detection of intensity of earthquakes.
At homes and offices, it can be used in automatic light ON/OFF
Systems.
ADVANTAGES
There are advantages to the use of seismic sensor.
They can be adjusted to detect vehicular traffic.
If the soil & vegetation cover are restored to original
condition.
Some models are designed for use with photographic
or video equipments.
Seismic sensors are also used for the footprint
detection
