Operating systems: It is the interface between the user and the hardware of the computer. The operating system is software that functions as an interface between a user and computer hardware. The main purpose of an operating system is to make the computer system comfortable to use and use the hardware in an efficient way. The operating system performs the basic tasks such as receiving keyboard input, processing instructions and sending the output to the screen.
The Software is the Non-Touchable Parts of the Computer, and the Software are those that are used to Perform an Operation, so that the Software's are only used to make an Application, but the Hardware are those that are used to perform an operation.
Types of operating system:
Batch OS: A set of similar jobs are stored in the main memory for execution. A job is assigned to the CPU, only when the previous job is completed.
OS multiprogramming: The main memory consists of jobs waiting for CPU time. The operating system selects one of the processes and assigns the CPU time. Whenever the execution process should wait for any other operations (such as I / O), the operating system selects another process from the job queue and allocates the CPU. In this way, the CPU is never kept inactive and the user gets the taste of getting several tasks at once.
OS multitasking: Multitasking combines the advantages of multiprogramming OS and CPU to make quick changes between jobs. The switch is so fast that the user can interact with each program while running
Time share OS: Timesharing systems require interaction with the user to instruct the OS to perform various tasks. The operating system responds with an output. Instructions are usually given through an input device such as the keyboard.
Real-time operating system: Real-time operating systems are typically built for dedicated systems to perform a specific set of tasks within deadlines.
