Robust RBFN Control for Linear InductionMotor Drive Using FPGA
An FPGA based radial basis function network(RBFN) is presented here which is used to control the mover position of a Linear induction motor(LIM). First, an indirect field-oriented mechanism is tried for the purpose of speed control of a LIM. Then a sliding-mode control is designed in which a a conservative constant lumps up the uncertainities. As the lumped uncertainity cannot be determined in the practical situations, the RBFN control is used for the purpose of approximating the the equivalent control law. This results in a system with online training ability also. The indirect field-oriented mechanism is implemented using an FPGA chip.It also contains the the developed control algorithms so that the system is cost effective as well as suitable for the high-performance industrial applications. The simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed architecture. The advantages of this system are good transient control performance and robustnes.
