Ultrasonic sensors are based on measuring the properties of sound waves with a frequency higher than the human audible range. They are based on three physical principles: flight time, Doppler effect and attenuation of sound waves. Ultrasonic sensors are not intrusive because they do not require physical contact with their target, and they can detect certain bright or bright targets, otherwise obscured by some vision-based sensors. On the other hand, its measurements are very sensitive to the temperature and the angle of the objective. In industrial applications, ultrasonic sensors are characterized by their reliability and exceptional versatility. Ultrasonic sensors can be used to solve even the most complex tasks involving object detection or level measurement with millimetric accuracy, as their measurement method works reliably in almost all conditions.
No other method of measurement can be successfully applied on such a wide scale and in so many different applications. The devices are extremely robust, making them suitable even for the most difficult conditions. The sensor surface cleans itself through vibration, and that is not the only reason why the sensor is insensitive to dirt. The physical principle - the propagation of sound works, with few exceptions, in practically any environment.
