PROPOSAL ON VOTERS REGISTRATION SYSTEM
#1

ABSTRACT
The foundation of a successful election is a credible Voters’ Register and is the basis for determining who is eligible to vote and who is not on Election Day. While the existing Registrations of Voters used in 2007 General Election served its purpose to a great extent, it had profound limitations, one of which was the case of multiple registrations. This project work thus aim at designing an “Electronic Voters’ Registration System” using Microsoft C#.Net that will aid in the easy registration of voters and also to eradicate multiple registration.

INTRODUCTION
The foundation of a successful election is a credible Voters’ Register and is the basis for determining who is eligible to vote and who is not on Election Day. While the existing Registrations of Voters used in 2007 General Election served its purpose to a great extent, it had profound limitations, one of which was the case of stolen computer systems used for the registration process thereby leading to the lost of information on those computer systems .
Important to the success of future elections in Nigeria is a Register of Voters that contains essential information on every eligible citizen such as name, age, gender, address, photograph and thumbprints etc; hence the current efforts of the Commission at validating the voter registration status of Nigerians with the incorporation of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and photograph of the voter. It is hoped that the Voters’ Register obtained through this process will be devoid of fraud and multiple registration; on other words credible.

PROBLEM OF STUDY
In a country like Nigeria and others where registration of voters is still carried out using the Direct Data Capture (DDC) technology, shows that analysis and retrieving of derived data can be tedious and cumbersome especially when it involves a huge amount of data. The research work tends at implementing a much easier platform on which voters’ registration process is simplified.

SCOPE OF STUDY
This research work is intended to proffer solution to problem facing the present system of voters’ registration in the country by developing a computer based voter’s registration system that will help fight cases of multiple registrations.
