today's technologically advanced world is witness to a large enough number of innovations requiring enormous amounts of power, and power has become a very valuable source. We therefore need to find ways to minimize power loss and improve the effectiveness of supply systems. Due to industrialization, the use of the inductive load has increased and therefore, supply systems are the loss of efficiency. The proposed system is designed to reduce the loss of power in industries by improving the power factor by adding the capacitive load in order to equalize the inductive load in the supply system.
The power factor is defined as the ratio of real power to apparent power. The actual amount of power used or dissipated in a circuit is called as real power. Reactive loads such as inducers and capacitors constitute what is known as reactive power. The linear combination of the real power and reactive power is called apparent power.
This project is made to read the power factor by calculating the difference between line voltages and current line of SVAS and ZCS circuits. These time values are then adjusted in the form of phase angle, and then the corresponding power factor values are calculated by a microcontroller. According to the values of power factor capacitor are switched by proper relays. These power factor values are also displayed on the LCD 2 x 16 modules. This is developed using microcontroller 8051.
In addition, the project can be further improved by using control thyristor instead of relay control switches to avoid opposing contact which becomes apparent by the switching of capacitors due to high peak current.
Respected sir/madam

The power factor is defined as the ratio between real power and apparent power. This definition is often represented mathematically as KW / KVA, where the numerator is the active (real) power and the denominator is the power (active + reactive) or apparent. Reactive power is the non-operating power generated by magnetic and inductive loads to generate magnetic flux. The increase in reactive power increases the apparent power, so the power factor also decreases. By having a low power factor, the industry needs more energy to satisfy its demand, so efficiency decreases. Energy saver is a convenient and necessary tool for consumers who use high load in industries and commercial purposes, which are used by reduced reactive power. . They use more energy compared to the one previously used by using energy savings. However, consumers have a problem because they use an additional circuit to save energy.
