Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives of the Digital India Program - External web page that opens in a new window. A beta version of it has already been released by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. from India. Digital Locker aims to minimize the use of physical documents and allow the exchange of electronic documents between agencies.

With the help of this Portal, the exchange of electronic documents will be done through registered repositories, thus guaranteeing the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digital signature documents can be shared with government organisations or other entities.
